Summary About the position: This position will be assigned to the Outdoor Recreation Center, Air Force Academy, Colorado. This position does not include benefits. Responsibilities Rents equipment from rental counter; issues recreational and other equipment to customers and maintains paperwork. Makes reservations for reservable equipment, taking payment at the time of reservation. Provides instructions on safety and use of equipment. Checks returned equipment, charges for loss/damage as appropriate. Processes documentation with cashier-checker for all payments, while safeguarding PII information. Informs supervisor of stock levels, assists in the storing and stocking of resale items, conducts inventories, safeguards equipment and property and notifies appropriate authorities in case of incident/accident. Assists in preparing rental reports. Assists in receiving/issuing of APF supplies and equipment. When necessary, assists customers in fitting and adjusting skis and boots. Conducts daily inventories on all rental equipment, cross-referencing the ROS reservation system with the Rec Trac payment system. Maintains area in a clean and orderly manner. Performs other duties as assigned. This is a developmental position having known promotion potential to the NF-0189-II, Recreation Assistant (Outdoor Recreation) position. Upon completion of 6 months experience as a Recreation Aid (NF-1) or Desk Clerk (Rental) NF-01, the incumbent may be non-competitively promoted to the higher pay band. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Applicant must have experience that has provided a general familiarity with the routines and procedures followed in group activities or programs. This includes any type of simple clerical, supply, or other work in which the applicant has demonstrated alertness, reliability and the ability to deal with the public. Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to create and maintain files. This should include demonstrated ability to perform common arithmetical problems and making change when receiving payments from customers. Cash register and computer experience is desirable. A Local Files Check (LFC) and National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) are required. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
