Office of the Secretary of the Interior PERFORMANCE SUPPORT SPECIALIST in Lakewood, Colorado

Summary This position is part of the Interior Business Center (IBC), Human Resources Directorate (HRD), IBC HRD Systems Migration and Services Division. The incumbent will be responsible for developing, implementing, and integrating products in performance support, productivity improvement, marketing, Web environment, and performance support automated applications. Responsibilities Maintain technical knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of software including Word, Excel, and Power Point and graphics editing software such as Photoshop. Participate in the development, reproduction, assembly, and delivery of all training materials required for training provided by TPSB. Update and maintain all training related handbooks, guides, and course materials in preparation for classroom instruction. Participate in the testing and validation of the scheduled use of all FPPS training database environments. Maintain all TPSB course offerings in HR Academy including posting of new classes, student registrations and billing. Provide instructor support to higher level Performance Support Specialists during training in the functional use of the FPPS, Datamart, Quicktime, FedTalent and WTTS systems to IBC customers. Eligibility Requirements: In order to be eligible for the Pathways Recent Graduates Program, the following qualifications must be met: Be a U.S. citizen; Possess a qualifying associate's, bachelor's, master's professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution, within the previous 2 years. Veterans: If you are a veteran, as defined in 5 U.S.C. 2108, who, due to military service obligation, was precluded from applying to the Recent Graduates Program during any portion of the 2-year eligibility period, you shall have a full 2-year period of eligibility upon your release or discharge from active duty. In no event, however, may your eligibility period extend beyond 6 years from the date on which you completed the requirements of an academic course of study. Only experience and education obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered. A combination of education and/or experience may substitute for the specialized experience requirement. Only education from institutions which are accredited or preaccredited/candidate for accreditation may be used to meet education requirements. At the GS-05 level, you must meet one of the following qualifications: A. A bachelor's degree, or four years of education above high school level, in any field from an accredited or pre-accredited college or university; OR B. At least 3 years of progressively responsible general experience, 1 year of which is equivalent to at least GS-4 that demonstrates the ability to analyze problems, identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions; plan and organize work; and communicate effectively orally and in writing in order to utilize automated systems and be familiar with all commands, processes, and functional procedures necessary to assist instructor-led classroom training in specific applications.; OR C. Conversion is not guaranteed. To be considered for conversion the following requirements must be met: Must be a U.S. citizen Meet qualification requirements for the position to which you will be converted Performed successfully in position and documented through performance evaluations Telework Suitability: The duties of this position are suitable for occasional telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval and if they meet the eligibility criterion in the 2010 Telework Act. Stipulations of Employment: Appointees must sign a Participant Agreement that sets forth the expectations for the Pathways Program. The duration of an excepted service appointment in the Pathways Program is a trial period. Appointment under the Recent Graduates Program may not exceed one year (2 years for certain series such as 1102's). Appointees may be non-competitively converted to the competitive service after successful completion of at least one year of continuous service, in addition to all of the requirements of the Recent Graduates Program. Work Schedule: This position allows for a flexible work schedule. Miscellaneous: This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Upon conversion, promotion up to the full performance level may be made without further competition. However, promotion(s) will depend on the performance of the incumbent and are not guaranteed.
