Summary

This role will focus on the design, development, documentation, and construction of electrical engineering projects for various NJT facilities in compliance with applicable building codes.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Helps develop scope of work with operating units, including preliminary budgets, schedules, feasibility studies and cost/benefit analyses for complex engineering projects.

  • Designs, prepares, reviews, and/or approves plans, specifications, cost estimates, and other contract documents, including those by outside consultants. Performs code reviews and insures code compliance. Coordinates as necessary with utilities and other outside review agencies.

  • Ability to develop selective coordination, short circuit, and arc flash studies.

  • Coordinates work with other engineering and architectural disciplines

  • Responds to RFIs, reviews submittals, and executes change orders. Monitors construction progress, and coordinates with Construction Management and Building Inspectors.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • Baccalaureate in Electrical Engineering or related field, and 5 years of applied progressive experience.

  • AutoCAD proficiency required. REVIT experience a plus.

  • Experience with arc flash/short circuit analysis software desirable (EasyPower, ETAP, SKM, et al)

  • Must be familiar with primary distribution systems; knowledge of solar power and electric vehicle charging systems a plus.

  • Familiarity with IBC, NEC, NESC, and state & local building codes necessary

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and modify existing electrical systems

  • Demonstrated ability to develop new electrical system models and select equipment using industry-standard software.

  • Project Management experience a plus.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • EIT Certification preferred (or acquisition strongly encouraged within 2 years of hire)

  • Professional Engineer license desirable

Physical Demands:

  • Light. Some field work may require climbing steps and/or ladders.

Working Environment:

  • Office environment with some field work required
