JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Morgan Academic Center (MAC) is accepting applications for Peer Content Tutoring positions throughout the 2024-25 academic year. The ideal candidates should be able to work with a diverse population of student-athletes to assist with course-specific content. This may include but is not limited to helping create study strategies, organizing course material, providing note-taking suggestions/ strategies, and preparing for tests .

This position offers a unique opportunity to work with a diverse student-athlete population, aiding with course-specific content. The position is limited to a maximum (of 20) hours a week and is flexible to accommodate students’ schedules; however, hours are not guaranteed and may vary each week /semester.

The preferred Skills and Requirements for this position include:

  • Must have earned at least an A- in the subject course(s) they wish to tutor

  • Flexible schedule and the capacity to meet with students, mult iple times every week

  • Content knowledge of courses tutored

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Think critically about assessing student needs and adapting to learning capabilities

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented

    As a Peer Content Tutor, you will be responsible for weekly scheduled appointments with assigned students , completing session reports to provide updates and feedback to MAC counselors and staff, and attending monthly meetings and trainings. You must compl y with all related MAC, Penn State, B1G Ten, and NCAA policies/procedures.

    To be considered for this position , you must apply online and provide the following materials/information:

  • Must be a current Penn State sophomore, junior, or senior; including graduate students or professionals (bachelor’s Degree)

  • Must have a cumulative GPA of a (3.0) GPA or above

  • 1-2 References or Letter of Recommendation from a Faculty member or Campus Advisor

  • Cover letter with the following information included:

  • Your major

  • All Penn State course subjects/number you are interested in tutoring (available at public.lionpath.psu.edu)

  • Why you are interested in tutoring student- athle tes

  • Any prior tutoring or teaching experience
