Job Description:

The Payroll Analyst will be responsible for assisting the Payroll Manager in leading the Payroll department, as well as processing various payroll schedules. Responsibilities include reviewing payroll data and documents for errors, ensuring payments are made on time, and reconciling various tax accounts. This role will also generate reports on wages and tax filings for various internal departments, as well as government agencies. The Payroll Analyst will also be responsible for testing and tracking payroll-related HRIS projects. To be successful in this role, you should have excellent analytical skills with the ability to spot numerical errors.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the processing of payroll data, taxes, and W-2s

  • Process bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and quarterly payrolls

  • Deliver effective, efficient, accurate and timely payroll processing and related reporting

  • Team with the Payroll Manager to ensure enforcement of legal, regulatory, and policy compliance

  • Possess in-depth knowledge of payroll and payroll tax, including standard procedures and deadlines

  • Reviews computed wages and resolve errors / issues, balances payroll. Supervises withholdings process for taxes, garnishments, and other payroll deductions

  • Ensure integrity of all payroll records, documentation, and work paper files

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications, advising management on needed actions to ensure compliance

  • Utilize technology skills (Workday, SAP, ADP and Excel) to improve efficiency of payroll processes

  • Takes full responsibility for working payroll projects, including developing test scenarios and performing UAT testing, while being able to appropriately communicate with the Payroll Manager to ensure agreement on priorities, direction of projects, status, issues and issue resolution

  • Ad hoc projects and reporting

  • Perform other job-related duties as necessary

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required

  • Advanced Excel skills are a must

  • Knowledge of full-cycle payroll processing from start to finish

  • Knowledge and understanding of payroll laws and multi-state tax rules and regulations

  • Knowledge and understanding of basic accounting concepts

  • Customer service-oriented with ability to interface with all levels of management in various departments including Human Resources and Accounting

  • Must be able to work under payroll deadlines and demonstrate a high sense of urgency and initiative

  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Ability to work additional hours when needed

  • 3-5 years or more of progressive payroll experience in a large multi-state organization with 1,500 plus employees is preferred

  • Experience with Workday, ADP, and SAP a plus

  • 2 or more years of HRIS configuration experience is preferred

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Human Resources, Business Administration or related field preferred
