GE Healthcare Program Manager – ATD & NPI in Waukesha, Wisconsin

Job Description Summary

The Program Manager (PM) – ATD & NPI is a critical role in Magnetic Resonance’s (MR’s) Program Management and Integration organization, or Project Management Office (PMO). This Program Manager will specifically be aligned with MR’s ATD programs and process & focused-scope New Product Introductions (example: product launch to full release practices).

The PM will be responsible for leading the Advanced Technology Development process by driving execution, planning, control, and completion of project and program deliverables across the MR’s portfolio of ATDs. This will include responsibility for ATD execution in early phases, while also planning for ATD to NPI alignment and road mapping. In collaboration with MR’s Chief Engineers and Systems organizations, the PM will enact ATD process rigor to ensure quality transitions from ATD to NPI.

For NPIs, the PM will lead a cross-functional team to deliver on all program(s) deliverables within the cost, quality and schedule parameters of the business case.

This position reports to the Sr Director of Program Management and Integration in the Waukesha Innovation Center. There is autonomy within the role, with high levels of operational judgment required to achieve business goals and outcomes.

The position requires technical engineering knowledge coupled with superior people leadership skills, proficiency in quality systems, functional and program management awareness and business planning expertise.

This position works closely with cross-disciplinary engineering and cross-functional business teams in the MR business.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Program manages across the ATD-fleet in all phases of the ATD process – including ideation collection (WWTP), start-up (T0), feasibility, execution and transition to NPIs.

  • Drives product planning and multi-generational product/platform roadmap execution.

  • Drives the milestone deliverables for the ATD & NPI programs and is responsible for closing the milestones and its action items.

  • Plans resources and materials for timely ATD & NPI program execution.

  • Operates within the Agile framework. Plans Epics and Themes for the programs.

  • Leads NPI cross-functional project execution, including (but not limited to) concept discussion, program execution, clinical and pilot trials, and product field delivery.

  • Works closely with the Product Definition team in order to drive product direction.

  • Works with the NPI business, program, system, subsystem/platform and service leadership teams to deliver quality products on time, within budget and with the necessary features to delight internal and external customers.

  • Establishes mechanisms to ensure good communication and execution among all team members and other business leaders.

  • Identifies, plans and tracks integration steps (who, what, when).

  • Delivers on the resulting plans and day-to-day activities within the program execution framework, integrated into the overall program plan.

  • Identifies and assesses program risks or issues, develops contingency plans and tracks mitigations.

  • Ensures that program cost management activities are synergistic with overall MR product and service productivity initiatives, leveraging common tools and synchronizing project efforts to maximize overall impact for the MR business.

  • Drives the NPI reliability deliverables for the program by working with systems and reliability engineers.

  • Ensures the NPI regulatory deliverables are met by working with regulatory team and other stakeholders.

  • Drives effective communication across businesses and functions in both ATDs and NPIs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Science or equivalent (defined as High School Diploma/GED and 4 years progressive experience as an engineer or scientist within the appropriate field of study).

  • 8+ years’ experience in engineering or project leadership within a manufacturing, development or research environment, including previous leadership of a global and/or virtual team.

  • Demonstrated ability to build lasting cross-functional relationships, including strong influential and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated understanding/experience with the Advanced Technology Development (ATD) and New Product Introduction (NPI/PRDx) cycles and cross-functional interdependencies.

  • Demonstrated execution at meeting project goals while satisfying quality, performance, schedule, and budget CTQs .

  • Demonstrated competency in providing leadership and direction to cross-functional program aspects and resources.

  • Demonstrated ability to build lasting cross-functional relationships, including strong influential and communication skills.

Desired Characteristics

  • Masters Degree in Engineering.

  • Knowledge of the Agile Framework as a development methodology.

  • Demonstrated experience with NPI ISO and regulatory compliance processes and design history files.

  • Creative problem solver and solution developer when presented with conflicting requirements, business demands and technical and program risks/issues.

  • Demonstrated skills in proactively identifying, facilitating, and driving closure of a product/program risks.

  • Knowledge of GE Healthcare engineering tools and processes (MyWorkshop, PPM).

  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently toward timely completion of a variety of assignments.

  • Ability to develop unique concepts/solutions for complex products.

  • Strategic planner and thinker with ability to drive change across the segment products.

  • Demonstrated LEAN skills.

  • Project leadership experience within manufacturing, development or research environments in the healthcare field.

  • Demonstrated broad exposure to HW/SW/systems design and technical depth in one or more engineering disciplines (Electrical, Mechanical, Software, etc).

  • Self-starter, energizing, results-oriented, and able to multi-task.

  • Excellent teamwork, coordination and communication skills.

  • Global, multi-site project experience.

  • Graduate of GE HealthCare’s Edison Engineering Development Program (EEDP).
